The Worx Wire Newsletter
Fall 2010 Edition

Construction Continues

TheWorxHub Takes Shape

The scarlet maple in my back yard reminds me daily to squeeze in a few fall hikes before the winter blows in. As most of you know, our entire Worx Team has been nose to the grindstone building TheWorxHub, our web-based, comprehensive suite of operations software.

TheWorxHub reflects experience we’ve gained over the last decade working closely with all of you, our PM Worx clients. I believe that our core values of caring deeply about your success, listening carefully, and learning constantly nurture our ever expanding vision of helping you care for your residents.

Unveiled at our September User Conference in Chicago, (can you believe, it was our fifth?) TheWorxHub met with oohs and aahs, and lots of urgent requests to try it out.  Scheduled for the first release in January, beta testing begins in November. Right after AAHSA, we’ll start hosting group Webinars to show you what TheWorxHub has in store for you. Click here for the sign-up and schedule. For now, Kyle has produced two sneak peek videos to pique your interest.

You can also read all about this next generation of operations management software (which scored top marks in our conference evaluation survey) in our article, Introducing…TheWorxHub.

Don’t forget to visit our new website, www.theworxhub.com, so you can explore the new modules for yourself. Or download TheWorxHub brochure if you’d like to read all about it in print.

We're also offering some very special deals to celebrate the arrival of TheWorxHub! This preferential pricing won’t last forever, so watch your inbox for an email from me or Josh. In the meantime, sign up for our November Webinar series on TheWorxHub, and we'll look forward to discussing how to make your switch from PM Worx.

TheWorxHub at AAHSA
Be sure to come by our AAHSA Booth #1638 in LA from November 1 -3. Send your executives and colleagues too, so they can see how TheWorxHub suite can do for all other operations departments what PM Worx has done for maintenance.

And while I’m on the subject, did you know that because TheWorxHub is completely web-based, we’re able to offer more scalable pricing? That means, for smaller sites, we’re more affordable than ever. Applications within TheWorxHub are priced separately, and cost only a few pennies a day.

Let your colleagues know to look out for our new logo at AAHSA, and forward this invitation to them.

New Faces and Old Friends in Chicago
As always, we return to work after this year’s User Conference energized by your stories about how PM Worx is making your lives easier and helping you deliver greater value to residents. You motivate us in so many ways. One comment in particular on the evaluation survey warmed our hearts:  “Thank you for your 'human' interaction. So many times a customer becomes a number. This makes you 'different' in my eyes.”  We’d have it no other way.

Stellar presentations by three maintenance directors who rely on PM Worx captivated conference participants, with practical advice on Risk Management, Survey Compliance, and Communication. Judging by the post-conference survey ratings, I know I speak for all when I thank Joe Zannini, Carolina Meadows, NC, Dave Scifres, Apostolic Christian Restmor, IL, and Bill Ludovice, Bethel Homes and Services, WI, for their contributions.

Our CCRC tour was of The Mather, an amazing 5-star home in Evanston, just steps from Lake Michigan. The Mather is a forward-thinking solution to the lifestyle priorities and desires of today's emerging older adults, and Brad Dew, maintenance director there, did a fabulous tour. Thank you Brad!

Lots of Learning
A very interesting session at this year’s Worx User Conference focused on brainstorming real-world ways to increase the return on investment in environmental services. For a flavor of what we discussed, you can read the article, Making the Case for Investment in Environmental Services.

We always learn with you at our conferences, and we’re all very grateful for the experiences we share, alongside the expertise we exchange. As Jim Normandin said years ago, “The Windmill Software User Conference is a great opportunity to learn and network with people in the same position – one that you rarely find elsewhere.”  Jim gave us such a warm welcome when he hosted our first ever User Conference back in 2004 at St. Joseph of the Pines, NC. At the time, the group consisted of just a handful of PM Worx users. I’m so pleased that our group continues to grow, and that participants feel the way Jim does as much now as ever. Once again, your feedback told us how valuable it is to hear from one another.

You also mentioned that, with the much larger crowd we had this year, and the larger space, we’ll be needing microphones next year. We hear you! (No pun intended).
You can read more about what went on at the Conference in our article, 2010 User Conference. Real Experience. Real Value. And be sure to catch the picture gallery on our Members Only Site. Don’t forget that you’ll need a username and password for access. If you've forgotten what it is, click here to have it emailed to you.

Next Year’s Conference
By popular vote, Niagara Falls, NY, won out over other venues for our 2011 User Conference. By then, TheWorxHub will be almost a full year old, and we look forward to celebrating together. While it’s too early to predict the exact stories, I know that TheWorxHub users will have plenty of wonderful tales to tell. For the first time, we’ll also be including sessions for all operations departments, so your colleagues will also be able to learn and share with senior living experts from across North America. To help you start planning for next September, and maybe extend your visit after the conference, take a look at our article about the wonders of Niagara.

Our New Look
You’ll no doubt notice that we’re changing our name and our appearance.  While we will certainly support PM Worx for as long as you need us to, you’ll be starting to see a lot more of TheWorxHub.com. Over time, we’ll no longer be known as Windmill Software, as our brand becomes synonymous with our flagship offering, TheWorxHub. Please help us make this transition by spreading the word far and wide. TheWorxHub is built on our past reputation, our values and principles. It’s a pleasure to work alongside all of you to deliver the next level of service for Senior Living Communities and the people you serve.

Do I Hear Wedding Bells?
I’m very excited to tell you that Kyle married the lovely Melissa on August 21, with close friends and family on hand to celebrate the moment with them. The couple was temporarily upstaged when their flower girl, Kyle’s four-year-old niece, decided to show off her Dora the Explorer underwear to the assembled guests. Right on cue for the I Do’s! For those of you who didn’t catch Kyle’s slideshow in Chicago, here’s a shot of the groomsmen in disguise. Did you spot Josh? And here’s one of Kyle and Melissa celebrating their honeymoon on the balcony of their cruise ship during hurricane Earl. Cheers, Earl!

I’ll leave you to enjoy the spectacular colors of this year’s fall. While we’ve had our Thanksgiving in Canada, I wish all our friends south of the border a wonderful celebration next month with family and friends.
