Back to School: Not Just for Kids
![]() Continuous learning and improvement have become essential components of professional survival. No longer can we get an education when we’re young and rationally expect that alone to carry us forward into a bright and successful future. Yet, keeping up in the midst of our daily hustle and bustle is practically impossible for most of us, and the source of significant stress overall.
Alvin Toffler, heralded as the 3rd most influential voice after Bill Gates and Peter Drucker, forewarns, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

Because we at Windmill truly understand the practical implications underlying this reality, we work hard at delivering information and education to help you adopt PM Worx fully, at the right pace, and at just the right time for you to use it. To that end, rather than just providing a short “how to” answer, our support is advisory in nature. It’s like just-in-time (JIT) consulting at the end of the phone. And that will always be a crucial part of our dedication to your success.
Our quarterly Worx Wire publication is jam-packed with information relevant to your work in Senior Living Communities. Our Members Only site gives you online access to manuals, ‘cheat’ sheets, past articles and, of course, the Watch-and-Learn video clips. Our goal is to make available the resources and assistance to inspire continuous learning and improvement whenever suits you best.
We especially appreciate knowing when we’ve hit our mark. This month, I heard from Bill Ludovice that he was delighted to find out about the in-progress report filters in the article Passion for In-Progress Reporting, published originally in the Winter 2007 issue of the Worx Wire. You can learn more about Bill’s experience with PM Worx by reading his success story, PM Worx Causes a Cultural Revolution.
I was truly inspired by those of you who sent their kudos regarding our making the web work request Watch and Learns and cheat sheets available right on the login page. As a result, I wrote the Web Work Requests: Teacher’s Tips article, describing eight practical suggestions you can use right away. Let me know how these work out for you. Would love to hear.
Also In store for you this issue, we introduce eight new Watch-and-Learn video clips: a five-part series on using Mobile Worx, two on managing assets (adding and linking assets to work orders), and one that’s especially helpful for developing the habit of tracking labor hours entered by your team. This latter article, Labor Time: Tracking Tells the Tale, features a Watch and Learn on how to use Worx IQ to measure progress over time.
Please be reminded that our library of Watch-and-Learn videos now features 30 clips on topics relevant to your everyday use of PM Worx. Just to name a few, we have a full series on Resident Chargebacks and on Managing Due Dates, as well as many stand-alone training clips.
I hope you find the Worx Wire articles helpful and inspiring. The Windmill User Conference, our annual education marathon, takes place next week at Disney. I’m excited to see all of you who have registered, and wish more of you were able to share the conference experience. In the words of Jim Normandin, who helped us launch our first conference six years ago, “The Windmill Software User Conference is a great opportunity to learn and network with people in the same position – one that you rarely find elsewhere.”
Together, let’s celebrate the joy of learning, and the day-to-day success it brings.
Warm regards,
Jo-Anne Kempe President
