President’s Message
It’s a beautiful, crisp, sunny fall day here in Toronto, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to get the chance to participate. You see, I’m almost a prisoner in my own house as the result of an unfortunate encounter with my kitchen floor last Friday evening. All I did was slip on a little water spill on the ceramic tiles...and my shoulder took the full brunt. The kind folks in the ER tell me it’s fractured in three places — oh, and dislocated too.
So, lots of meds are holding back the pain and giving the team a giggle as I, only on occasion mind you, repeat myself having forgotten what I said only 5 minutes ago … that’s what they try to get me to believe anyway. I’m still waiting on a final treatment plan, but already there has been a great deal of progress so I’ll not be down for long.
Having said that, there’s one very sad consequence. I will not be well enough to go to AAHSA next week. So, believe it or not, our ever-elusive Cherie will make a rare public appearance with Josh and Dan. Most of you have heard from her, or maybe only about her – she’s the one who’s been with me for almost 20 years. I know they’ll do the job, but I’ll miss our favorite annual event.
Considering that I really am writing this while I wait at the fracture clinic, it’s pretty evident I’ll still be very active and involved with day to day operations. It’s pretty much business as usual as I’m addicted to email and surprisingly good at typing with one hand. I’m never more than a message away, so don’t hesitate to contact me.
This issue of the WorxWire has taken a bit of a hit due to my injury. You’ll see that it’s very brief and focuses on current events. Hope you enjoy it and look forward to our Christmas issue where we’ll be back to our more standard format.
Regards,
